Restoring New Orleans
For the residents of New Orleans, the world changed forever on August 29, 2005. Five years later, the region is still reinventing itself. Through the very special Leadership Summit: Remembering Hurricane Katrina, you can help to give back what was lost. This program is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you to show your support for the New Orleans community and engage with the hurricane’s victims on a personal level. You can help people struggling to restore their home and community before it’s too late.

Hear from President Obama’s Campaign Manager David Plouffe, chief White House correspondent for U.S. News and World Report Ken Walsh, with more experts to be announced
- Give back through an exciting, hands-on service project with Chicago Cares
- Explore the Land of Lincoln, studying the presidents by walking in their political footsteps
- Building lifelong leadership skills, preparing students for college and beyond
- Students will learn how to make change happen in their own communities by following President Obama’s approach to community advocacy
- Earn 10 service-learning hours with an additional 55 classroom hours for high school students or 1 social studies credit for college students
